September 12th - 14th 2008

Welcome

Welcome to the newly re-designed official website of The Blackstairs Blues Festival. It is our intention to make our website as user friendly and informative as possible, so please have a look around the site and let us know what you think by e-mailing info@blackstairsblues.com. Indeed please feel free to e-mail us with suggestions both regarding the website and the bands you would like to see performing this year etc. We are currently compiling a mailing list from previous e-mails received so if you would like to be added to this list then please send us an e-mail also.

This years Festival takes place on the weekend of the 12th, 13th & 14th September and the Committee is currently hard at work contacting potential bands and venues. If you are new to the Festival then the following statement should tell you a little about us; The Festival is based in historic Enniscorthy, County Wexford in the beautiful South Eastern Corner of Ireland. Enniscorthy is an attractive town built on the slopes of River Slaney Valley and is overlooked by the famous battle site of Vinegar Hill. Further info about the town can be found at Enniscorthy Links. This years event will be the 13th consecutive Festival held and after the great success of last years Festival, it is our intention to continue to develop and grow the events both musical and fringe this year. The smaller size of Enniscorthy (~ pop. 12,000) and its intimate feel lends itself well to a Blues Festival with a series of friendly and atmospheric pub venues all within easy walking distance of each other.

All pub gigs are free but the Festival Committee also run late night gigs with a cover charge which allows us to go for something extra that couldn't be accommodated in a pub setting. Last years gig with "The Hi-Tones" in Legends was a highlight of the Festival, with a rocking band and an enthusiastic crowd combining to make one of the best gigs in the history of the Festival.

So please mark your diaries and cancel all other plans, The Blackstairs Blues is coming back to town and we want you there, so get on the road again and make your way to the Slaney Delta and rock your blues away.
